We watch a lot of movies and TV. Probably more than is healthy. CouchReviews exists because we kept having strong opinions about what we watched and got tired of not having anywhere to put them.
What we do
CouchReviews covers new releases across Netflix, Apple TV+, Hulu, and theatrical releases mostly horror, thrillers, and prestige drama, with the occasional documentary or music release thrown in when it’s worth talking about. Every review reflects an actual, complete watch of the film or series in question. We’re not writing from trailers or press notes.
Every review ends with our signature rating: couches out of 5. It’s a little ridiculous, on purpose the whole point is that we’re reviewing this stuff the way you’d talk about it to a friend on your actual couch, not the way a trade publication would.
Quick note: if you’re wondering why the URL is hltyo.com and not couchreviews.com it’s a legacy domain from an earlier project name, and we just never got around to moving. The reviews are the same either way.
Who’s behind it
CouchReviews is written by Hassan, a longtime fan of horror, thrillers, and prestige drama, with 5 years of following film and TV releases closely. No formal credentials just an obsessive habit of watching everything, having strong opinions about it, and being honest about which ones don’t hold up.
The site was started in 2026 with a simple goal: honest, spoiler-aware reviews that tell you whether something’s actually worth your time, without padding, without SEO-driven plot recaps, and without pretending every new release is a masterpiece.
Our approach to reviews
We watch everything in full before reviewing it. We tell you if something has a twist worth protecting, and we mark spoilers clearly when we discuss them. We compare new releases to genre touchstones when it’s useful, because context matters more than a plot summary. We’re honest when something doesn’t work, even if it’s popular, and honest when something’s great, even if it’s obscure.
